Malay engineer rewards Chinese school for helping daughter

A MALAY engineer has donated school bags and stationery items to poor pupils of a Chinese primary school.

Sin Chew Daily reported that the engineer, identified only as Helmi, did so as he was grateful to the teachers of SJK(C) Kong Min in Tawar, Kedah, for being helpful to his eldest daughter, a Year Three pupil there.

Helmi, 35, also sponsored a trip to Malacca for the pupils and teachers last year.

“This year, I will sponsor another trip for them,” he said, adding that he also contributed to a national primary school in the area.

Helmi’s wife said the teachers at SJK(C) Kong Min continued to encourage their daughter even though she was struggling to catch up with the other pupils.
